Krauss would probably have a different take on her thesis if this piece was written in 2015 because of technology and narcissistic content. At the original time this article was written video art was new, so anything that was produced through video was also new to the art would art as well. Now that time and technology has progressed there is to much access to “video art” and much more of a broad deflation of what video art even is. All though Krauss would think that everything can be made in to video art in a sense I’m not sure she could predict the easy access we have today. But in a sense Krauss almost predicted the future of video art. She believes that the medium is narcissistic which it can be ,but now the art is all basically about the person who creates it and less about the actual art. There are modern examples of sorts of video art like Instagram or Youtube. Girls make makeup tutorials all the time and post them to youtube. Is this video art and is this narcissism? Instagram for example is filled hundreds of photos of people. Selfies of course are the most modern and basic form of narcissist art. But beyond the actual photo of the person who posted it the Instagram photo of something else can also be narcissistic An Instagram photo of a scenic view can be because its the “Artist /Account user” posting something that portrays them selves in a certain way to the public. The way Krauss thesis would differ in the way that focuses more on the modern day content and context of the video art. Also the pieces she would analyze would be completely different because of the growing technology. It didn't sound like Krauss thought of this narcissism in a bad way when she was writing this piece. But I believe that if she wrote it about 2015 she would see that the context has changed for the art being produced. The “Art” isn't thought through or suppose to be meaningful its just about the beauty or the portrayal of the person and less about the meaning or the soul of the creator. Not to keep reiterating but Krauss is agreeing that narcism is what video art is all about but in modern times she would truly see that it is hardly even art anymore. It would be interesting to see what Krauss would think of Kim Kardashian since some argue that she is an artist her self.

Appropriation Art
I found an example of appropriation art that shows a remake of the famous "American Gothic" painting, by Grant Wood. There have been many remakes of this painting, but I found that this remake was the most interesting ,because the title of the piece matches the appropriation theme. It is a modern take on American Goth culture. This remake is done by Jesse John Hunniford.
Hi my name is Taylor Alber. I'm a rising Junior. I am a Digital Media Major in the Corcoran Art program at GW. I'm interested in all kinds of digital art as well as photography. I mainly work with Adobe Indesign and Illustrator, but have little experience in Photoshop. My favorite artist right now would be Slim Aarons, the photographer.
